Yesterday, while on regular patrols, a vigilant Mi7 Reaction Officer spotted a man walking on the roadway carrying a large amount of wire mesh fencing. As the Reaction Officer approached, the suspect dropped the fence and started to run.
A foot chase ensued, and eventually, the Reaction Officer apprehended the man. He admitted to cutting and stealing the fencing from the nearby Bisley Nature Reserve. He was then taken back to the site to point out where he did it. The missing section of fencing matched that of the parts found in the man’s possession.
An official from the Reserve was on scene, and the stolen fencing was returned. They declined opening a case with the police, so the suspect was let go with a warning.
