On Thursday, 11 December 2025 at 12:00, an intelligence-driven operation was conducted by members attached to Operation Lockdown III at a premises in Antony Road, Silvertown, following information about a person dealing in drugs and in possession of unlicensed firearms.
The members immediately operationalised the information and, upon arrival at the identified address, 49 mandrax tablets, six sachets of dagga, six dagga cigarettes, and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of criminal activities were seized.
A 16-year-old male was arrested and detained at Athlone SAPS for dealing in drugs. He will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court once charged.
In an unrelated matter, also on Thursday morning, 11 December 2025 at 01:30, Ravensmead Crime Prevention Unit members were conducting stop and searches in Fabriek Street, Eureka Estate, when they saw a suspicious-looking male and stopped and searched him. During the search, a 9mm firearm and 14 rounds of ammunition were found in his possession.
The 23-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and will appear at Goodwood Magistrate’s Court once charged.
