A Hyundai Atos burst into flames yesterday (Wednesday) night after experiencing mechanical difficulties at a residence on Wanderpark Place in Shastri Park, Phoenix – KZN.
The incident occurred at approximately 21:59 when the vehicle failed to start on the property. The owner borrowed jumper cables from a neighbour, successfully started the car, and parked it on the roadway while awaiting a relative to inspect the fault.
A short while later, the owner noticed smoke and flames coming from the vehicle. Attempts to extinguish the fire using buckets of water were unsuccessful.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the scene, where Firefighters were already in attendance. The blaze was swiftly extinguished, preventing further damage.
An electrical fault is believed to have caused the fire.
