While many families look forward to the festive season as a time of rest and celebration, it can also be a period of increased risk and vulnerability for children. Recognising this, Mustadafin Foundation’s dedicated child and youth care workers are spending the holidays where they are needed most, creating safe, nurturing spaces that keep children off the streets and positively engaged.
Across its programmes, Mustadafin is offering structured holiday activities that combine learning, play, and emotional support. From board games and reading sessions to guided interaction and mentoring, these initiatives provide children with stability, routine, and connection during a time when supervision is often limited.
“Our goal is simple,” says Ghairunisa Johnstone-Cassiem, director of Mustadafin Foundation. “We want children to feel safe, valued, and supported, not just during the school year, but especially during the holidays.”
The impact goes beyond keeping children busy. These programmes foster confidence, social skills, and a sense of belonging, giving young people the opportunity to thrive in an environment built on care and encouragement.
Mustadafin Foundation invites members of the public to be part of this mission. Those who wish to support, donate, or volunteer are encouraged to get in touch.
“If every man helps his neighbour, then who will need help?”
Together, we can make this holiday season one filled with safety, hope, and meaningful moments for children who need it most.
