To enhance safety in schools, today (06 February 2026) the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL) together with the South African Police Service and Community Police Forum (CPF) members conducted search and seizures operations in two Embalenhle schools in Govan Mbeki Local Municipality.
The team visited K.I Twala Secondary and Kusasalethu Comprehensive schools unannounced.
Some of the illegal things they seized from some of the learners include dagga, knives and cookies with dagga.
Today’s operation is part of the School Safety Programme, an initiative of DCSSL and the Department of Education working together with stakeholders in the Security Cluster to ensure a safe teaching and learning environment.
