Members of Operation Prosper were conducting crime prevention operations in Clarke Estate, Elsies River, in the Western Cape, on Thursday evening, 02 April 2026, when they heard gunshots going off in the nearby vicinity. They drove in the direction from where the sound came from, when they saw two males running with one of the males having a firearm in his hand. The members gave chase and apprehended both suspects. A 9mm pistol without a serial number and 15 rounds of ammunition were recovered.
Both adult male suspects were arrested for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and will appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court once they have been charged.
