At approximately 21:50 on the evening of Wednesday, the 27th of May 2026, Rustenburg First Responder Volunteers received a call regarding a motor vehicle accident that had occurred on the R104 towards Kroondal.
Information received indicated that a light motor vehicle had collided with a truck, leaving two occupants entrapped inside the vehicle with serious injuries. Rustenburg First Responder Volunteers, together with North West Provincial EMS, Rustenburg Fire and Rescue Services, ER24 EMS, and Trauma Rescue EMS, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, both occupants were found severely injured and entrapped inside the vehicle. Rustenburg First Responder Volunteers, EMS personnel, and Fire and Rescue teams worked hand in hand to rescue the patients. Two ALS paramedics were on scene providing advanced life support care while Fire and Rescue personnel carried out the extrication process.
Through coordinated teamwork and combined efforts, both patients were successfully freed from the vehicle, treated, stabilised, and transported to the hospital for further medical care.
Special thanks to Lenco (PTY) LTD for assisting in ensuring that one of the critically injured patients was rapidly transported to Medicare Private Hospital for further specialised medical attention.
