Just before 11 a.m. this morning, ALS Paramedics responded to multiple calls regarding a drowning incident involving a toddler on Holmes Road in the Umbilo area of the Durban CBD.
Several Advanced Life Support paramedics and ambulances were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found community members and relatives attempting resuscitation on a little girl, approximately two years of age.
Paramedics immediately took over advanced resuscitation efforts. Sadly, despite their best attempts, the child showed no signs of improvement and was declared deceased on scene.
At this stage the events leading up to the incident are unknown. However, SAPS were in attendance and will be investingating further.
