The Police in Siyabuswa arrested a 44-year-old suspect on Friday, 28 November 2025, around 04:00 am for possession of crystal meth.
According to a report, members were patrolling the R568 Road, from Maphotla to Siyabuswa, when they spotted a white Nissan NP 200 bakkie with a Gauteng registration number plates. After a high-speed chase, the suspect was cornered.
Upon searching the vehicle, members discovered two containers with a white powder, suspected to be crystal meth, stashed inside some bags. The estimated street value of the recovered substance is about R110 000. The vehicle that was driven by the suspect was also seized as part of Police investigation.
The male suspect is expected to appear at the Mdutjana Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 December 2025.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has commended the members for their swift response and vigilance “The arrest of this suspect and recovery of the suspected drugs is a significant blow to illicit drug trafficking in our province,” said the General.
