A joint operation between Ocean View SAPS members and Metro Police led to the seizure of dagga plants and a large sum of money at a house in Capri Sunnydale. On Wednesday, 28 January 2026, at about 15:45, the team executed a search warrant at the mentioned address.
They found dagga plants, dagga cultivation equipment, and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime. A 43-year-old male suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs.
Once charged, the suspect will appear in the Simon’s Town Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charge. In an unrelated incident, Public Order Police members arrested a 19-year-old male suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm in Berry Road, Vrygrond, this morning. At around 04:30, members were conducting routine patrols in the area when they spotted the suspect carrying a suspicious object in his hand. When the suspect saw the marked vehicle, he ran into a yard in Berry Street and threw the object onto the roof of the house.
The members went inside and found that the object on the roof was a .22 calibre rifle. The rifle was confiscated and booked in as an exhibit. Once charged, the 19-year-old will appear in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court.
