Welkom Anti-Gang Unit continued to carry out various crime prevention operational concepts as part of Safer Festive Season activities, and Operation Shanela II. The intelligence-driven actions were carried out in Bothaville police precinct with the operation starting at 15:00 on Wednesday, 28 January 2026 until Thursday, 29 January 2026 morning.
The operators pounced on a 26-year-old male; a search was conducted at the residential place and 74 zip lock plastic containers with suspected Chrystal Meth weighing 74 grams, 168 bankies containing dagga, one full-, six halves-, and 52 quarters of Mandrax tablets were found and seized. The suspect was placed under arrest. Blitz operation continued, and another identified target house was searched. Eleven (11) zip lock plastics containing Chrystal Meth weighing 8 grams and cash believed to be proceeds of drugs sale were seized. Another suspect, aged 38 was arrested.
Case dockets of possession and dealing in drugs were opened at Bothaville Police Station. The two suspects were detained in police custody and the seized drugs booked into Evidence Management System. The suspects will appear in Court soon.
