Our focus to clamp down on the lucrative abalone trade in this province has yielded the desired result last night when suspects were arrested for being in possession of abalone valued at a substantial R4.8 million.
The two suspects aged 25 and 34 will remain in custody until their court appearance in Cape Town on Monday, 4 February 2019.
The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lt Gen KE Jula commended his members for the outcome of their intervention to fight the scourge of abalone poaching, and by ensuring that offenders are brought to book.
