Anti-Gang Unit members are making strides in Mitchells Plain, ridding the area of illegal firearms. On Wednesday, 29 October 2025, members deployed in Beacon Valley due to ongoing gang violence, acted on information received about a firearm concealed at a house in Cricket Street, Beacon Valley. During a thorough search of the house, members discovered a firearm and one round of ammunition. A 17-year-old male suspect was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition. He will make his first court appearance in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court, once charged.
Furthermore, members proceeded to an address in Atletiek Street in the same area, where they found a 16-year-old male in possession of a firearm without a serial number. The suspect was arrested, and he will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court.
Meanwhile, another shift of Anti-Gang Unit members was deployed in Kensington Policing precinct following a shooting incident on Wednesday morning, 29 October 2025. Upon arrival, they sought intelligence and followed up to an address in Ventura Street. They searched the main house, then proceeded to a wendy house at the back where they found a 9mm pistol hidden in the ceiling. Members seized the firearm with one magazine and 13 rounds of ammunition.
