Inkosi Mhlabunzima Maphumulo House: #NenzaniLaEzweni Operation is being executed with a high level of precision by our energized and efficient team from Road Traffic Inspectorate.
A few hours ago, RTI Provincial Inspectors in Pietermaritzburg, Zolile Ngubane, Lufefe Gwagwa and Anathi Ntombela cornered and arrested a polo driver during #NenzaniLaEzweni Operation in the Camperdown off-ramp northbound.
The vigilant RTI team noticed a white Polo Vivo Sedan, without a number at the rear, making a U-turn and speeding off.
Our well-trained and no-nonsense RTI team gave chase and quickly cornered the driver, who was driving without a driver’s license. The Polo driver was accompanied by his three suspected criminal friends, who ran away, leaving him behind to face the music
.
The RTI team was approached by yet another traumatized victim who had been robbed at gunpoint by the same gang.
They took his cellphone, bank cards, and wallet. The items were handed back to the victim.
After handcuffing the Polo Driver and searching his car, the RTI Team found five stolen cellphones and a firearm.
We express our appreciation to the SAPS Camperdown and MAGMA Security for re-enforcing the #NenzaniLaEzweni Operation.
Finally, as an executive authority responsible for ensuring the safety of road users throughout the corners of the province I am encouraged by the unprecedented dedication displayed by RTI.
The RTI team has declared beyond any shadow of doubt their passion for their job and their love for the people of KwaZulu-Natal.
