On Tuesday, 09 December 2025 at 01:30, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention and Community Liaison Unit Officers, in conjunction with other stakeholders, arrested a sixty-seven (67) year-old male suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.
Acting on intelligence about a dangerous individual allegedly terrorizing the community, officers launched an early morning takedown operation. Upon arrival at the Thokoza residence, the suspect allowed officers to search the premises. A 9mm pistol and five live rounds were found hidden under a mattress. The firearm was confirmed stolen in a Tseki SAPS case.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Thokoza Police Station and is expected to appear in the Thokoza Magistrate’s Court soon.
