A flat was extensively damaged in a fire in Mount Vernon – KZN a short while ago (Friday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 14:07. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival found that neighbours doused the flames.
The apartment on the first floor was full of smoke. The tenant was not on the premises when the fire started. Neighbours noticed the smoke before they forced entry and battled the blaze with fire hoses and extinguishers.
Circumstances leading up to the fire have not been established.
