Police in Makhado under the Vhembe District have arrested four suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition during an intelligence-driven operation conducted on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at about 14:00.
The suspects, aged 33, 41 and 69, were arrested at a Plot in Rondebosch, following information received regarding a suspicious motor vehicle at the premises.
Upon arrival at the identified location, police found three males and searched them including their motor vehicle, a white Corsa. During the search, police recovered three firearms and ammunition inside the vehicle.
Police further proceeded to another premises in Kock Street, where two revolvers and one pipe gun were also recovered. A fourth suspect aged 38 was subsequently arrested at the scene.
All four suspects are expected to appear before the Makhado Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 14 May 2026, on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
