A 33-year-old man was shot and killed at an informal area in Canelands – KZN.
A female contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) requesting assistance for the critically injured male. Reaction Officers & RUSA Medics were immediately dispatched to Station Road. On arrival, the public directed RUSA Members to an informal residence where the man was located on his veranda bleeding excessively from his injuries.
On examination, he was found to have sustained gunshot wounds to his head, neck, and face. He showed no signs of life and was pronounced deceased. Three spent cartridges and a 9mm Hollow Point bullet were recovered next to his body. The motive for the execution was not established.
It was established that the suspect arrived at the deceased’s residence earlier today but found his door locked. Neighbors informed him that the victim was not home when the man left and later returned.
He approached the victim and allegedly informed him that he was looking to rent a room from him. The deceased then allegedly advised him that he was leaving for work but will show him the room. While locking his door, the suspect produced a firearm and shot him multiple times. He then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
The deceased’s friend and work colleague who lives in the same informal area was shot & killed in his home last Thursday (03/11/2022).
