Midlands EMS Advanced Life Support paramedics, the K9 Unit featuring K9 Hunter, and ambulance crews were dispatched to the Injisuthi area of the Central Drakensberg following reports of a poison injection incident.
On arrival, it was found that a teenager was in a critical condition, fighting for their life. Midlands EMS crews immediately initiated urgent advanced life support interventions to stabilize the patient.
Due to the severity of the condition, a decision was made to call in the assistance of the Netcare 911 aeromedical helicopter. The patient was placed on a ventilator and stabilized with specialized medication before being airlifted to a Level 1 trauma hospital for further emergency care.
