A fire tore through the upper level of a duplex in Hammonds Farm, Waterloo – KZN this morning (Tuesday).
Neighbours alerted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 08:04 after noticing flames engulfing the upper level of the residence. On arrival, Reaction Officer found that neighbours forced entry into the property and attempted to extinguish the blaze with available resources.
As the fire spread rapidly, concerned residents worked to evacuate valuables from an adjacent house. Shortly thereafter, Ethekwini Fire & Rescue Services arrived and successfully brought the inferno under control, preventing further destruction to neighbouring homes.
Details leading up to the incident have not been established.
