On Tuesday, 25 November 2025, members from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit arrested a 23-year-old suspect in Point area for dealing in drugs and recovered large quantity of drugs.
The team has been hard at work in trying to unmask an individual who was supplying drugs to various dealers. The hard work paid off when a sting operation was conducted on Tuesday, 25 November 2025 at a premises on Fischer Street at Point, and the following drugs were recovered:
5830 capsules of Heroine powder,
4543 pieces of Rock Cocaine,
178 Ecstasy tablets.
The recovered drugs are estimated to be valued at R570 000. An amount of R157 270-00 cash was also recovered in the premises.
The suspect was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs. He was due to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 26 November 2025.
In an earlier operation conducted in Newcastle on Tuesday 11 November 2025, the Provincial Drugs and Firearm Team arrested John Onamu (38) also for dealing in drugs. The team pounced at the premises on Starling Street in Newcastle, where they recovered an assortment of narcotics such as Rock Cocaine, Crystal Meth and Mandrax. The estimated value of the recovered drugs is R200 000. An amount of R17 800 in cash was also found during the operation.
The suspect was arrested and was charged with dealing in drugs. He made his first court appearance at the Newcastle Magistrate’s court on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, and was released on bail. During the time of his arrest, the suspect was out on bail for two other drug related offences.
