EASTERN CAPE – An intelligence – driven operation by the Tactical Response Team deployed in OR Tambo at Nothintsila locality- Ngqeleni on Thursday, 18 December 2025, from 14:00 till 22:00 and a thorough investigation by Libode detectives led to arrest of male suspects aged between 36 and 48 years for different crimes committed at different times.
The Tactical Response Team firstly stopped a suspicious white Nissan NP 200 bakkie with ZN registration plates in Nothintsila locality and on vehicle circulation, it transpired that it was reported stolen at Ngcobo in October 2025. The suspect was arrested immediately. On arrival of the team at their first target’s homestead, a 303 rifle was recovered and on firearm circulation it revealed that firearm was robbed during business robbery in Hluleka Game Reserve in November 2025 and suspect was nowhere to be found. An enquiry docket has been opened to trace the suspect, link him to the previously mentioned business robbery in Ngqeleni.
At Nomcamba locality – Ezinduneni A/A, a male suspects was arrested for being found with two illegal/prohibited homemade shotguns with five live shells of ammunition whilst in Libode, a 28 year old male suspect of Ncise locality who allegedly killed and beheaded (decapitated)her girlfriend’s body in November 2025 at Mphangana locality appeared before Libode Magistrate Court on Friday, 19/12. The decomposed, deceased’s beheaded body was found on 2025 -12 -06 after her disappearance and the boyfriend being the last person to visit her in her homestead before she went missing has made a lawful confession and a pointing out to that effect.
“This is a testimony that OR Tambo police adhere to their Code of Conduct and Mission of SAPS where they vowed to prevent, combat and investigate crime”, said Major General Norman Modishana, OR Tambo District Commissioner as he applauded the foot soldiers on their unwavering commitment and dedication in fighting crime.
