Two suspects, aged 32 and 33, were arrested by members of the Bethlehem Public Order Policing (POP) Unit while conducting a disruptive operation in Reitz and Petsana on Friday last week.
On Friday, police received information from the community regarding a house in Petsana Township suspected of selling drugs. Members operationalised the information and proceeded to the identified address, where a search was conducted. During the search, police discovered two plastic bags containing more than 2 000 Mandrax tablets, with an estimated street value of R122 000.00.
A man and a woman were arrested at the premises and charged with dealing in drugs. The suspects appeared before the Reitz Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 09 February 2026. The case was postponed to 16 February 2026 for a formal bail application.
The SAPS in the Free State applauds the concerned community for trusting law enforcement and providing information that led to the swift arrest of the suspects. Fighting drug-related crime is everyone’s responsibility. We also commend our members for their rapid response and commitment to serving law-abiding citizens.
